Chinese national among two injured in bomb blast

KARACHI: At least two persons were injured, including a Chinese national, in roadside bomb blast near Gulshan Hadeed area of Karachi, ARY News reported on Monday.

According to SSP Malir Rao Anwar, the bomb was planted at the green belt on the National Highway. The bomb went off when a car on-board a Chinese national passed through the area leaving atleast two persons including the Chinese man injured.

The windowpanes of the car, having number plate of JF 7639, shattered in the powerful blast. Chinese man identified as Fin Chi and driver Tariq Aziz were injured in the bomb blast.

According to sources, the foreign national was travelling without official security. However, his personal security guard was accompanied with him.

A pamphlet of a nationalist group also found from the site of bomb blast denouncing “foreign control over Sindh’s natural resources”, police officials said.

A large number of Chinese nationals working at various ongoing projects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Thar coal power project in Pakistan.

Sindh Police chief A.D. Khawaja has summoned the report of the incident from DIG East and SSP Malir. The I.G. Police has also ordered stepped up security in the area.
