Karachi eatery ‘CHiPs’ saved from closure

KARACHI: Local popular eatery of Karachi, ‘CHiPs’ that offers delicious burgers, sandwiches, fishes, steak, pizza and other fast food items, has been saved from closure by a regular customer.

CHiPs –a renowned eatery that remain located in Boat Basin for more than two decades – has got the new owner Shayaan Tahir, 29, who also owns an online retail store called ‘homeshopping.pk’.

Last week CHiPs management decided to wind up the business and announced closure of the restaurant. Tahir, who visits the place regularly, bought the CHiPs trademark, along with the entire staff including the chefs and waiters. He was of the view that Brands should not be closed down.

According to sources, Tahir plans to relocate CHiPs either in Badar commercial’s food street or in Sehar Commercial after Ramazan, following the outlet’s tradition of remaining shut throughout the holy month.

It has been learnt through sources that Shayaan Tahir will not bring any major change in the menu or the prices however he plans to give the restaurant a modern look.
