Chup Taziya procession taken out in Karachi

KARACHI: ‘Chup Taziya’ procession was taken out on Thursday to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hassan Askari (R.A), ARY News reports.

The mourning procession started from Nishtar Park and ended at Hussainian Iranian Imambargah while passing through M.A. Jinnah Road, Empress Market, Regal Intersection, Tibet Centre, Radio Pakistan, Lighthouse and Boulton Market.

Strict security measures were taken to ensure that no untoward incident took place during the procession. The procession routes were sealed with containers and trucks.

Large contingents of law enforcement agencies were deployed for the mourning procession. Around 4,888 police officers as well as Rangers personnel were deployed on the route of the procession for security, officials said.

Mourners were allowed to enter the procession after strict checking.

Snipers were placed on the high rise buildings along the procession route apart of three teams of Bomb Disposal Squad swept the procession route.

Another “Chup Taziya” procession will be taken out from Qasar-e-Musayyab Imambargah to Shah-e-Najaf Imambargah at Martin Road in the afternoon.
