CJ rejects govt plea for early hearing of Musharraf ECL case

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Tasaduq Hussain Jillani has rejected the plea for early hearing of case against withdrawal of Musharraf’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL), ARY News reported Wednesday.

Attorney general had requested early hearing of the case in view of the sensitivity of the matter. In the last hearing, the Supreme Court had forwarded the case to chief justice for consideration.

Attorney general had argued that the case hold immense important and should be heard forthwith.

On the other side, former president Pervez Musharraf has already filed petition at the Sindh High Court for removal of his name from the ECL. After decision from the high court, Musharraf would have no embargo to leave abroad.

The SC had stated that it had no concern with the high court verdict. Appeal will be heard on merit, observed the SC.
