ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar on Wednesday took suo motu notice of the case regarding alleged torture on a child housemaid by a sitting judge’s family, ARY News reported.
“Notice was taken on media reports that the minor maid servant was allegedly beaten up brutally and she was given stroke with ladle and her hands were burnt and reportedly matter has been patched up and compromised,” said a statement issued by Public Relations Officer of the apex court Shahid Hussain Kamboyo
The CJ ordered Registrar Islamabad High Court (IHC) to present a detailed report regarding the incident in 24 hours.
On the other hand, District Magistrate Islamabad has written a letter to PIMs administration ordering the formation of a new medical board to ascertain the facts in the torture case.
The pictures of the 10-year-old Tayyaba went viral on social media earlier this month with internet users claiming that the maid works in an additional session judge Khurram Ali Khan’s house and is tortured by the judge’s family.
When recovered by police, Tayyaba said that she was not tortured but fell from stairs but in the statement recorded for the First Information Report (FIR), the ten-year-old claimed that she was brutally tortured by the judge’s family where she has been living for past two years.
However, a man claiming to be Tayyaba’s father pardoned the judge’s family appeared in the court on Tuesday and pardoned the judge’s family.
