Closed-door meeting to decide on Yemen issue: sources

ISLAMABAD: A closed-door meeting of the heads of all parliamentary parties is likely to take place soon to decide on Yemen issue, ARY News cited sources as saying.

According to sources, Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah had recommended Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to hold a closed-door meeting of the parliamentary heads, which was given a nod by the premier.

Pakistan’s decision, whether to join the Saudi-led coalition to fight Houthi rebels in Yemen, is likely to be made tomorrow [Wednesday].

Earlier in the day, the prime minister in his address with the Parliament had said that his government is awaiting a ‘message’ from Istanbul regarding the matter.

PM Sharif had said that there are a few things which cannot be revealed during the session and a closed-door meeting of the political heads will be called to decide on the matter.

He had also clarified in today’s sitting that his government has not reached a final decision, however a strategy will be devised keeping in view the recommendations presented inside the Parliament.
