CM forms committee to probe police torture of media men

KARACHI: Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Sunday formed a committee to probe police torture of journalists outside Sindh High Court (SHC), ARY News reported.

According to details, a journalist delegation called on CM Qaim Ali Shah at the Chief Minister here on Sunday evening and expressed their concerns over police torture of media men outside SHC yesterday.

Information Minister Sharjeel Memon, Waqar Mehdi and Rashid Rabbani were also present at the meeting.

Listening to the concerns of journalists, CM Shah regretted the incident, while Sharjeel Memon apologized the journos over the episode.

Qaim Ali Shah inquired the reporters and injured cameramen about facts regarding the incident.

The chief minister formed a committee headed by DIG Ameer Sheikh to probe the matter and identify the persons responsible of the manhandling of journalists.

He directed the committee to submit the inquiry report within five days.
