CM Punjab inaugurates wheat harvesting campaign

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday inaugurated wheat harvesting campaign at a village Malik Shah Mohammad Awan near Lahore, ARY News has learnt.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said government will continue compensating losses of farmers.

“Government has taken numerous steps to facilitate the farmers”, he added.

“Government has decided to allocate 5000 tractors for farmers and a subsidy of Rs. 2 billion will be provided to them for the purpose”, said Shahba Sharif.

Talking about wheat production, he said record wheat production is expected this year.

The Chief Minister said 4 million metric tons wheat will be purchased during the current season.

He informed that 376 centers have been set up for purchasing wheat in different parts of the province.

Shahbaz Sharif said wheat purchase price has been fixed at Rs.1300 per 40 kilogram this year.
