CM Sindh rules out ban on MQM

MURAD ALI SHAH

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah on Monday ruled out the notion of banning Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), ARY News reported.

“All those who are anti-Pakistan should be banned. Not every MQM worker is anti-Pakistan. Crackdown will be carried out against criminal elements,” said the chief minister during a media talk while answering to the question whether MQM should be banned?

He said the government was not against the saner elements in MQM. Action will be taken against criminal elements found in any political party let alone MQM.

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan has also said that he was not in favor of banning MQM.

Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid also confirmed on Sunday that there was no proposal under consideration to ban the MQM.

While talking to a local TV channel, he said the experiment of imposing bans on political parties in the past proved unsuccessful.
