Coach-tanker collision at National Highway kills seven, injures 20

KARACHI: At least seven people were killed and 20 others were wounded when a Thatta-bound bus rammed into an oil tanker at National Highway on Tuesday morning, ARY News reported. 

The passenger coach — heading to Thatta from Karachi — crashed into an oncoming oil tanker at Sassui Toll Plaza.

Seven people lost their lives while 20 others suffered severe injuries in the road mishap.

Rescue teams reached the spot after receiving information and shifted the dead bodies and the injured persons to a nearby hospital. According to hospital staff, several victims are in critical condition.

Police initially stated that the incident took place due to excess speeding.

It is pertinent to mention that rash driving, poor maintenance of vehicles and dilapidated roads cause road accidents which claims hundreds of lives in Pakistan each year.
