COAS discusses regional security with Chinese ambassador

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday held a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong to discuss regional security situation and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), ARY News reported.

The Chinese ambassador exchanged views with Raheel Sharif on regional situation and issues of mutual interest, an Inter Services Public Relations statement said.

Sun Weidong appreciated achievements and sacrifices of Pakistan Army to maintain peace in the region and the world.

The Army chief had vowed on June 02 that Army was ready to pay any price to turn the long cherished dream of the CPEC into reality.

He had said that Army was well aware of the hostilities being perpetuated against the project which promised to transform the lives of the people of Pakistan.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the CPEC would prove to be the game-changer in the region.
