COAS Raheel Sharif calls on PM Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif called on Prime Minister Mian Mohamamd Nawaz Sharif in PM House today, ARY News reported.

During the meeting, COAS and PM Nawaz discussed matters of national security.

They discussed implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism and overall security of the country.

Gen Raheel Sharif and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also reviewed the progress of  the Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

Operation Zarb-e-Azb

Pakistan Army began a long-awaited push to clear insurgent bases from North Waziristan last June after a bloody Taliban attack on Pakistan’s aviation hub Karachi airport, finally sank faltering peace talks with the militants.

Air strikes, artillery, mortars and ground troops have all been used in the military offensive to take back the territory.

The army has intensified the offensive against the terrorists since the Taliban’s massacre of 150 people, 134 of them children, in Army Public  School in the northwestern city of Peshawar in December.
