COAS seeks extension in scope of anti-terrorism training

He was addressing the passing-out ceremony of first batch of counter terrorism force in Lahore. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was also present on the occasion. Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif was invited as a chief guest at the ceremony.

The COAS said the scope of counter terrorism training should be extended to other parts of the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif emphatically stated that the government will not rest till the country is completely purged of the menace of terrorism.

He said protection of lives and properties of people and maintenance of law and order is our foremost priority. He said the entire nation and institutions have taken a consensus decision that the war on terror will be won at all costs as it is the matter of our future generations and economic prosperity.

He expressed the confidence that other provinces will also follow the suit of Punjab province and establish the counter terrorism force. Mr. Sharif said the blood of martyrs will serve as a beacon of light for the entire nation.

Referring to the Shikarpur tragedy, he said the incident has aggrieved the entire nation but he expressed the determination that such deplorable incidents will further bolster our resolve to rid the country of terrorism.

Referring to other challenges faced by the country including energy, the Prime Minister vowed to address them with the support of nation.

On the occasion, the personnel of Counter Terrorism Force demonstrated their skills to apprehend the terrorists.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was also present on the occasion.
