According to details, the army chief chaired a high level meeting of army and intelligence officials in General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi to discuss the security issues facing the country and ordered effective implementation of National Action Plan to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country.

During the session, Sharif lauded political leadership’s resolve to eliminate terrorism from the country through reforms and administrative measures.

COAS hoped that, in keeping with confidence and trust of the nation, army can transform this consensus into practical actions on ground.

It must be noted that Pakistan’s military and political leadership on Wednesday agreed on a comprehensive anti-terrorism action plan which included establishment of military courts, crackdown on terrorist hideouts, communications and sources of income, and establish a counter-terrorism force.

The country is still reeling from the Peshawar school attack which claimed 149 lives including 133 children on December 16.
