Countrywide protests against blasphemous sketches

KARACHI: Protest demonstrations and rallies were held in various cities of the country on Friday on the call of various political parties and groups against blasphemous caricatures published in Paris magazine Charlie Hebdo

A complete shutterdown was observed in Quetta against the blasphemous sketches in French magazine. Protesters chanted slogans against the Paris magazine.

Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI) held a protest rally in Chaman. The protesters were carrying placards with slogans against the caricatures. The speakers addressing the rally called the blasphemous sketches cultural terrorism against Islam and a warcry against the Muslims.

In Tando Muhammad Khan school children held a protest demonstration against blasphemous caricatures.

JUI held a protest demonstration in front of Karachi Press Club and schoolchildren in Lahore carrying protest banners held a demo against the sacriligious sketches.

Various religious groups also held protest rallies in Islamabad and Faisalabad.

Citizens in Dera Ismail Khan held a demonstration, burnt effigies and chanted slogans against the blasphemous caricatures.
