Court issues 'permanent' arrest warrants for Mir Shakil

ABBOTTABAD: A local court of Abbottabad on Tuesday issued permanent arrest warrants for Mir Shakil ur Rehman and four others over their repeated absence from hearings of a blasphemy case, ARY News reported.

Civil judge, Najeebul Haq while hearing a petition filed by one Bilal Murtaza, expressed his displeasure over repeated absence of Jang/Geo group owner Mir Shakil ur Rehman, Mir Ibrahim, Shaista Lodhi, Veena Malik and Asad Khattak.

The court issued ‘permanent’ arrest warrants for the accused and ordered police to ensure their arrest and production in the court.

The court also summoned SHO of Mirpur police station, investigation officials and the petitioner on the next hearing to record their statements.

The hearing was adjourned till January 15.
