Courts can annul a law, policy deemed against basic rights, says CJ

JAMSHORO: Chief Justice (CJ) of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali on Saturday said the courts can invalidate a law or a policy they found in contrast with basic rights, ARY News reported.

Addressing the annual convocation of Liaquat Medical University Jamshoro, the CJ lamented that a large number of ghost employees exist in the health-related institutions, whereas thousands of fake doctors have been playing with lives of the people in a metropolis like Karachi.

He said it is the responsibility of the government to make strict laws and take practical steps against fake doctors and ghost employees working in the field of health.

Justice Jamali said that the courts have the authority to annul any law or policy they found against basic rights of the people.
