Court reopens assets reference against Zardari

ISLAMABAD: The assets reference against former President and co-chairman of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari – initiated back in 2001 – ordered to be reopened by the accountability court in Rawalpindi, ARY News reported on Friday.

According to details, accountability court judge Raja Ikhlaq Hussain while hearing the petition filed by Special Prosecutor Raja Khurram Ejaz on behalf of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, issued notices to 27 persons including Asif Ali Zardari accused in the case, to appear before court on April 27.

The prosecutor, in the application, had requested accountability court to reopen assets reference against Zardari as his immunity had ended with the termination of his presidential tenure on Sept 8, 2013.

The court approved the application and adjourned the hearing till April 27.
