Bookie gunned down in Karachi

KARACHI: A bookmaker was gunned down in the city on Tuesday, making it an unusual incident of target killing in recent months, ARY News reported.

Target-killing, on the basis of political rivalry, extortion or at times due to tussle between gangs, has become an order of the day in Karachi, however it is the first time that a bookie fell prey to it.

A notorious bookie named Anees Memon was gunned down in the metropolis on Tuesday.

Sources told that as the Cricket World Cup 2015 is approaching near, struggle between different bookmaker groups is at its peak to beat each other in the game of money.

It was further told that this tussle can lead to further bloodshed in the city.

However, police high-ups have been keeping a watch on the situation and have already ordered a crackdown against bookies in Karachi.
