CTD foils terrorism bid ahead of Ashura

KARACHI: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Thursday apprehended three suspects linked with a banned outfit near Karachi’s Nagan Chowrangi area, ARY News reported.

Holding a press conference, SSP CTD Junaid Sheikh told that CTD personnel conducted a raid near Nagan Chowrangi and apprehended three suspects – Qari Noorullah, Qari Israr and Siddique.

“The suspects had already conducted recce of several imam bargahs and wanted to carry out attacks there,” he told.

The arrested suspects have confessed their involvement several incidents during interrogation, Sheikh added.

Meanwhile in another raid, CTD personnel nabbed a ‘target killer’ named Wasim alias Kala along with two accomplices.

The suspected hitman was said to be affiliated with a political party.
