According to details, the dead suspected terrorists wanted to target Multan and sensitive installations surrounding it. CTD sources disclosed that information had been received about the terrorists upon which a raid was conducted at Jahanian’s Ada Lakhi Tibbi area. Upon knowing that their location had been compromised, terrorists opened fire on police and one suicide bomber blew himself up, killing four suspected terrorists.
Two to three alleged militants took advantage of the darkness and managed to flee. A rifle, two pistols and explosive material in large quantity was obtained from the terrorists. CTD revealed that the suspected terrorists belonged to banned militant outfits Al-Qaeda and Tehrik-e-Taliban Punjab.
The alleged militants wanted to target Multan and sensitive installations in the city’s surrounding areas. Dead bodies were sent to the morgue for postmortem. A search operation was initiated in the area to apprehend the suspected militants who had escaped.
Militancy and terrorism have been on the rise in Punjab especially a couple of weeks ago when the Lahore blast had taken place and taken the lives of more than seventy people. As many as three hundred people were also injured in the attack.
