Dalit woman stripped in India over petty land dispute

CHHATARPUR: An Indian Dalit woman was stripped and beaten by a couple over a land dispute.

Last month, a Dalit woman was beaten, stripped and forced to consumer her own urine in Chhatarpur.

The female victim went to the Additional Superintendent Police (ASP) of Chhatarpur on Tuesday and narrated to him the incident in which her dignity was violated. The woman, who was accompanied by other members of her caste, also accused the local police of not taking action against the culprits.

According to the narrative of the victim, the woman had gone to Vijay and Vimla Yadav’s house to complain about their cattle eating crops from her land. The couple beat her inside their house and then forced her to drink her own urine. The incident occurred at Village Mudwara which falls under the jurisdicition of the Nowgong police station of the district on August 26.

Lalit Shakyawar, who is the Superintendent Police (SP) of Chhatarpur, decided to launch an investigation into the matter, after hearing the victim’s complaint.
