Dar discusses MQM resignations with Fazl

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday talked with JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman on phone to discuss resignations of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) members from assemblies.

Dar, a senior member of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s cabinet, said that the doors of dialogue should not be shut down. He said the government wants solution of the matter of MQM resignations through dialogue, sources said.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman urged for restoration of MQM’s role in the parliament.

According to sources, the government likely to contact with MQM chief Altaf Hussain in London to convince him for resumption of dialogue over the issue.

MQM in a statement today announced to pullout of talks with the government over the party’s resignations from the assemblies adding that the party lawmakers resignations from all three legislative floors were final and the MQM would not hold further talks on the matter.

The party also announced to abandon the parliamentary politics temporarily and to focus on the “establishment of a province and welfare activities.”
