ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday made it to the residence of PTI leader Jahangir Tareen in an attempt to bring the Imran Khan-led party on the same page regarding legislation on changing procedure of Senate elections, ARY News reported.

Speaking to media after the meeting, Dar informed that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has summoned parliamentary parties meeting on Friday to discuss the drafted 22nd constitutional amendment, seeking to amend Senate election procedure.

He invited the PTI, Imran Khan in particular, to parliamentary leaders’ meeting on Friday, to be chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

He said PTI and PML-N were on the same page regarding elimination of horse-trading.

The minister said reports were being received that horse-trading is at peak ahead of Senate polls.

We need to eliminate this curse for once and for all, he added. We are meeting all political parties to purge the country of menace of horse-trading, said Dar.

He reiterated that PTI should come to the assemblies and play its constructive role.

To a question, Dar said it’s also our endeavour to establish judicial commission, as demanded by PTI, to probe rigging allegations in general elections 2013.

He hoped that judicial commission issue would be resolved before March 5 – day of Senate elections.

On the occasion Jehangir Tareen said he had a detailed discussion with Mr. Dar on Senate polls.

The PTI leader added that his party was not in favour of secret balloting for Senate elections. He said strict punishment should be doled out to those indulging in horse-trading.

Tareen said PTI would hold consultations within the party whether to attend parliamentary parties meeting.
