Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Saturday, he said tax collection during second quarter of the current financial year exceeded the target by 35 billion rupees.
He said tax collection during the first six months of the year was 1385 billion against the target of 1390 billion rupees.
The Minister said tax collection grew by 18.2% during six months, which is highest in the history of the country. He said in January this year, the tax collection growth was recorded at 20%.
He said inflation during first six months was recorded at 2.1% and it is expected to remain within four percent at the close of the year.
The Finance Minister said Voluntary Tax Compliance Scheme has become a law and the government will implement it with the cooperation of the business community to boost tax collection.
