Dar says inflation now lowest in last 18 months

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar has said the government had successfully brought down the inflation rate to 5.8 percent, which is the lowest in last 18 months.

He stated this while chairing a meeting of National Price Monitoring Committee in Islamabad. The meeting was attended by representatives from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Islamabad.

Dar emphasized to address the prices disparities among the provinces and emphasized for expediting process of Executive Magistracy System to control prices.

The minister said the government would control inflation and prices of commodities of daily needs with the support of provincial governments. He said the government would not allow profiteers, and hoarders to make undue profit.
