Deepika Padukone seemed to have earned praise from most Bollywood stars on account of its female centered message. The short video clip features a host of 99 women expressing their right to freedom and most important of all, choice. Exhibiting confidence and showing off independence, the video was hailed as a welcome demand for female empowerment in India. However, Twitter users have responded sharply and criticized what they perceived as ‘male bashing’ in the video. Others also spoke out and labeled the video as sexist.
Here’s a look at how people in general took to Twitter and vented their frustration at the latest video:-

The discourse on feminism has reached an abysmal low. Its not about celebrating womanhood anymore; its just about male bashing.#VogueEmpower

I think if a man did a #VogueEmpower video we’d be calling him a misogynistic dog for his ‘choices’. Shouldn’t #feminism go both ways?

@deepikapadukone If he wants to marry a fair beautiful girl, don’t call him sexist. It’s his life, it’s his wife. #MyChoice #VogueEmpower

It looks like people have not all been mesmerized by Padukone’s powerful message and have chosen to mock or ridicule her video.
