Democracy not possible without independent judiciary, says CJ Jillani

ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani has said that democracy in a state is not possible without independent judiciary, while tolerating each other despite of conflict of opinions, is called the democratic culture – ARY News reports.

The statement was made during his address with a ceremony of a dinner given in honor of him by the Supreme Court (SC) Bar.

Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani said that the role of lawyers for the sake of an independent judiciary is a bright chapter in the judicial history.

He stressed on the need of promoting democratic culture in the country.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan said taking care of the basic rights of the people is the responsibility of the judiciary, while the educational system of the country also needs to be improved.
