Doctor-cum-militant arrested for links with Safoora attack

KARACHI: The law enforcement agencies on Sunday apprehended a militant allegedly linked with Safoora bus attack that had left at left 43 people dead.

Police and other law enforcers conducted a joint operation in Saddar area and nabbed Usman Khan, who is a dentist by profession.

According to sources, the arrested militant-cum-doctor has revealed the connections with the main characters of the Safoora incident. He was the facilitator in the deadly bus attack.

At least 43 people were killed and 13 others wounded on Wednesday when armed men opened fire inside a bus carrying members of the Ismaili community near Safoora Chowk in Karachi.

The suspect has reportedly confessed to assisting the central accused Saad Azeez and his colleagues.

Sources told that he was dispatching extortion money to the al-Qaeda collected from various areas of the city.
