Dozens nabbed in Lahore raids over unverified identity papers

LAHORE: Police rounded up several suspects during search operations in different areas of Lahore on Monday night, ARY News reported.

Police carried out raids in different areas of the historic city including Batapur, Old Anarkali, Southern Cantonment, Muzang, Factory Area and Saddar on the instruction of DIG Operations Dr. Haider Ashraf, sources said.

Policemen checked different documents and rent papers of the people during raid. Several people were taken into custody after their identity documents and other papers not verified.

The police authorities have stated that the arrested people, who will get their documents verified, will be released.

A case will be filed against the people who fail to authenticate their papers, police sources said.

The law enforcement agencies have launched a drive in the city as part of the country-wide anti-terrorism campaign in the country.
