Dr. Asim fails to appear in case hearing citing medical reasons

KARACHI: Former petroleum minister Dr. Asim Hussain failed to appear before the accountability court for the hearing of the corruption case against him, ARY News reported.

An  accountability court heard the corruption case against Dr. Asim Hussain. He was not present in the proceedings today.

Hussain’s counsel, in the proceeding, informed the bench that his client could not appear in the hearing as he was suffering from severe back pain and high fever.

The court adjourned the hearing till 3rd September and summoned the head of the medical board, examining Hussain, in the next proceeding.

Dr. Asim was arrested on August 26, 2015 on corruption charges and facilitation of terrorists.

The accountability court has indicted former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain in a Rs 462 billion corruption case against him.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders Wasim Akhtar and Abdul Rauf Siddiqui along with others have been arrested in Dr Asim Hussain terror facilitation case.

Wasim Akhtar, Anis Qaimkhani and others – facing charges of allegedly asking the former petroleum minister to provide treatment and shelter to alleged terrorists and gangsters at Ziauddin Hospital.
