Dr Shakil Afridi's ex-lawyer gunned down in Peshawar

According to details, unknown assailants opened fire at the vehicle of Samiullah Afridi in Matra area of Peshawar. He received two bullets and was critically injured in the attack.

Samiullah Afridi was being taken to the Lady Reading Hospital; however he succumbed to the deadly wounds on the way.

Afridi remained out of country for about three months after being issued threats, he had recently returned to Pakistan.

Samiullah Afridi had been pursuing the case of Dr Shakil Afridi – the physician who helped the American CIA run a fake hepatitis vaccine program in Abbottabad, to confirm Osama Bin Laden’s presence in the city by obtaining DNA samples.

Shakil Afridi was arrested at the Torkham border crossing days after the deadly raid at Bin Laden’s compound and was sentenced to 33 years for treason, on May 23, 2012.
