DSP shot dead, two guards injured in Mingora attack 

SWAT: Unidentified armed men shot dead Deputy Superintendent of Police Shangla Muhammad Ilyas and injured two of his’ guards in Mingora on Tuesday, ARY News reported.

The assailants opened fire on the DSP’s car in Mingora in Swat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, leaving him  dead, while two of his guards sustained serious injuries in the attack. They were transferred to a nearby hospital.

According to hospital doctors three bullets found in head, shoulder and neck of the slain DSP.

Police has initiated preliminary investigation of the incident. The law enforcement agencies have launched a search operation in the area to arrest the culprits.

Pakistan has been a victim of terrorism since long. A large number of the personnel of the law enforcement agencies and civilian citizens of the country have lost lives in terrorist attacks in the South Asian nation. The military has launched an anti-terrorism offensive in Pakistan’s northwest and other parts of the country to weed out terrorism and extremism.
