ECP to hold senate elections in March

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will hold elections for 52 seats of senate in the first week of March, ARY News reported on Friday.

According to details, 52 senators including Senate Chairman Nayyar Hussain Bukhari would retire from their posts in the Senate. The elections would be held in all provinces for as many as seven general seats, two women’s seats, one technocrat and one cleric seat.

The schedule for senate elections would be issued in the first week of February.

Pervaiz Rashid, Babar Ghauri, Chaudhry Shujaat, Abdul Ghafoor Haidri, Afrasiab Khattak, Jahangir Badar, Mushahidullah Khan, Zafar Ali Shah, Raja Zafarul Haq, Rehman Malik and Farooq Naik will also retire from their respective positions in senate.
