ECP meets today to discuss allegations, demands of resignation

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will be held on Monday (today) to discuss the allegations levelled by the PTI and People’s Party.

According to ARY News, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan will chair the meeting of the ECP to discuss the situation after allegations levelled by the political parties and their demand for resignation of the members of the election commission.

According to sources, three members of the commission will call on the CEC and likely to submit their resignations after the allegations against the commission.

PTI chairman Imran Khan had announced to hold a sit-in in front of the ECP in Islamabad if its members do not tender their resignations by October 4. He also invited all his party supporters to join the planned sit-in in Islamabad.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has also demanded resignations of the election commissioners of the four provinces. Other political parties have also questioned the credibility of the members of the election commission.

Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan has summoned a meeting of the top officials of the ECP today to deliberate over the PTI’s protest call and the demands of other political parties.
