ECP seeks military deployment for KP LB re-polling

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan has written a letter to the Defence Ministry for military deployment for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local-bodies re-elections, ARY News reports.

In the letter, ECP has stated that military should be deployed in all 351 constituencies where the elections are being held as to curb any untoward situation during the polling process.

The election commission announced re-polling in 351 polling stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the local bodies elections on July 30.

Opposition parties in the province had announced to launch a protest campaign against the alleged riggings of local body elections.

Opposition parties accused massive irregularities in the recent LB elections in KP held on May 30, which was also admitted by the PTI chairman Imran Khan.

Khan also offered for holding the re-elections in the province under military supervision, in order to address the reservations of different political parties.
