Karachi by-polls: ECP sets up monitoring cells

ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Monday set up monitoring cells in NA-246 Karachi, whereas after the withdrawal of two candidates the contest will take place among 13 nominees, ARY News reported.

All the preparations have been made relating to the by-election in NA-246 due on April 23, while today the ECP also formed monitoring cells in the constituency.

Any complaints relating to the by-polls could be submitted in these cells.

ECP sources told that election material will be delivered at all polling stations in the constituency, in time.

After the withdrawal of two candidates, there are 13 nominees left who will be contesting the much-hyped by-polls.

There are 3,57,801 registered voters in the constituency, polling in the constituency will begin at 8am on April 23 and conclude on 5pm, the process will continue without any break.

Presiding officers and assistant presiding officers will have the powers of Grade-1 Magistrate during the polling process.

All the candidates will have to wind up their campaign by 12 at mid-night on April 21.
