Edhi’s eyes light up two blind person’s world

KARACHI: Renowned social worker and humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi did not let go any chance to serve the humanity even after his death as his eyes have successfully been transplanted into two blind persons according to his wish.

The two eyes were transplanted into two blind persons at Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation this afternoon.

“The death of Edhi sahib has given vision to two most deserving persons and this is how he had wished his legacy to continue after death,” an SIUT press release said.


The Edhi family has fulfilled Abdul Sattar’s desire by donating both his eyes.

He had asked to donate all his body parts but other parts could not be transplanted because of his old age and diabetes.

The SIUT spokesman said surgeries of both the patients have been successful and have become able to see. He did not reveal name of the patients because of the organization policy.

Sources said both the patients hail from rural Sindh and their ages are between 30 and 60 years.
