KARACHI: Eight Pakistani sailors stranded on a ship anchored in Egypt’s Suez Canal reached Karachi on Friday, ARY News reported.
Pakistani crew members of the ship stranded for over three months returned home on Friday after the intervention of the Pakistan embassy in Egypt.
According to reports 17 Pakistani seamen had been stranded for months after the Egyptian government had confiscated their passports.
Around seven of those stranded had returned home in two batches after diplomatic intervention.
Eight of the nine Pakistani ship crew have returned Karachi in a flight of a private airline.
According to the sailors, the captain of the ship, due to ill health, had been transferred to a hospital in Abu Dhabi and will return to Pakistan after he recuperates.
The sailors thanked the Pakistani media for efforts the made to ensure their return to home.
