2004 Tsunami was the third most destructive earthquake in the world. The incident claimed around 0.5 million lives according to various surveys.
The catastrophic tidal waves, caused by the underwater earthquake, destroyed everything in their path across 14 countries. Indonesia, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Malaysia and Maldives were the countries that were the most affected.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in Sumatra, Indonesia. Nearly 1.7 lac people were killed in the country’s Aceh city alone.
