NANKANA SAHIB: Tensions gripped Nankana Sahib after encroachers ran rampant during an anti-encroachment operation by the staff of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) here on Saturday, ARY News reported.

According to details, encroachers set fire to an office of ETPB and several of its vehicles. The armed men also opened fire at the vehicle of the board’s chairman Sadiq-ul-Farooq leaving two security guards injured.

Police officers and ETPB members had to seek refuge inside a Sikh Gurdwara during the firing incident.

Farooq said that the staff was attacked by the encroachers when they were trying to regain possession of the ETPB land from illegal occupation of the land grabbers. He blamed Punjab Assembly member Zulqarnain Dogar for the attack on PTSB staff.

Siddiq-ul-Farooq called Dogar, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MPA from Nankana Sahab, as the patron of the land mafia. He vowed to break the back of the groups involved in land grabbing.

The goons snatched the camera and a mobile phone of ARY News cameraman Tahir Mehmood during the incident.
