‘Everything will be all right’ at LoC, says COAS General Bajwa

RAWALPINDI: Soon after taking charge of the Pakistan Army on Tuesday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said “everything will be all right” while referring to the developing situation across the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed Kashmir valley.

In a maiden informal interaction with media representatives after assuming charge of COAS in the Change-of-Command ceremony at the General Headquarters (GHQ), he acknowledged media’s positive contributions towards keeping the morale of the nation and the armed forces high.

He lauded the role of media in nation building and called upon it to continue with positive contributions in this regard.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa also thanked General Raheel Sharif for praising his professionalism and extending good wishes for future endeavours.

Today, General Bajwa took charge as the 16th army chief of the world’s sixth-largest army by troop numbers in a formal colourful handover from General Raheel Sharif.

The succession ceremony where General Sharif handed over the ceremonial baton, the ‘Malacca Cane’ to his successor was held at the hockey stadium of General Headquarters (GHQ) in the garrison city.

The event was attended by heads of the armed forces, top civil-military leadership and other local and international dignitaries.
