SUKKUR: Excise Police foiled a bid to smuggle a consignment of arms and munitions to Karachi, Sindh excise minister said in a statement.
Excise police on an intelligence report conducted a raid at a truck near Obauro and captured large quantity of arms including 16 Kalashnikovs, 82 pistols, 10 magazines and 21,500 rounds, Sindh Minister of Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla said in a statement.
The accused were trying to shift the weapons to Karachi, he said.
Excise Police has filed a case and launched an investigation into the matter, he said.
The minister didn’t divulge the details of the raid and whether someone arrested in the raid.
