Explosion in Quetta leaves 3 dead and 28 injured

The explosion occurred outside a shop near Alamo Chowk located on the airport road in Quetta, leaving a car and two rickshaws completely destroyed.

Many of the injured are said to be critical condition.

Bomb disposal squad (BDS) officials said the bomb was planted on a cycle which went off. Some 500 to 600 kilogramme of explosive material has been used in the explosion, they added.

The rescue officials reached the area soon after the incident and helped in shifting the dead and injured to Civil Hospital Quetta.

A heavy contingent of the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and security officials also cordoned off the area.

Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest province by land mass and smallest in population, has been a hotbed of an insurgency demanding the right of local population over the natural resources of the resources-rich south-western province.

Quetta, the seat of government of Baluchistan, regularly face terrorist attacks and acts of sabotage, which cause losses of life and property to civilians and the personnel of the law enforcement agencies.
