Faisal Vawda files petition against Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar

It has been pleaded in the petition that oath-taking ceremony of Waseem Akhter should be stopped by declaring him unqualified until he got cleared of all the cases he was involved in.

The petition says that Waseem Akhter is accused of heinous crimes for which he is under arrest.

Faisal Vawda said the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader should not be allowed to take oath as a mayor.

Waseem Akhtar was elected Karachi’s mayor on August 24.

This should be noted that oath-taking ceremonies of mayor, deputy-mayor, chairman, vice-chairman across Sindh will be held tomorrow (on Tuesday).

SSP Rao Anwar has said that Akhtar is accused in more than 25 cases in Malir district, and has not been bailed in two cases. He said that court order had been granted to take Akhtar into his custody. According to sources, various cases against Akhtar include clauses of terrorism which are being investigated.
