The female singer who won many hearts with her Basant song ‘Dil Hua Bokata’ has announced to learn the art of classical singing from none other than the famous Sham Chaurasia gharana of the subcontinent.

Apart from singing her basic popular music songs, Fariha is these days entertaining her fans with Ghazals and Thumris.

Fariha maintained that she will soon master the ChandarKonas, Malkonas, Bageshari, Darbari, Basant and Bahar ragas.

Sham Chaurasia gharana is a gharana (musical heritage) of classical music, known for the singing of vocal duets, most notably represented by the brothers Salamat Ali Khan and Nazakat Ali Khan.

The gharana is centered at a village of the same name in the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab (India).

Several artists of this Gharana had shifted to Pakistan after the partition of India.

Meer Baksh, Khairdeen, Vilayat Ali, Haidat Ali, Nazakat Ali and Salamar Ali all began singing in Jugalbandi.

Many singers like master Rattan of Phagwda, Om Prakash Mohan kept up the tradition of the Sham Chaurasi Gharana in India.
