Fatemi meets US State Dept official, discuss key issues

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Foreign Affairs aide Tariq Fatemi called on United States Deputy Secretary of State Tony Blinken and discussed the issues of mutual concern, ARY News reported.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Fatemi called on Mr. Blinken in Washington and discussed Kashmir, Afghanistan and bilateral ties between Pakistan and United States in the meeting.

They also talked about several challenges in the region and prevailing hostilities between Pakistan and India in detail, sources said.

Fatemi said that Pakistan wishes to resolve all the issues with India via dialogue.

The prime minister’s special assistant also informed the US official about the situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir. He added that peace is not possible without resolution of the dispute.

He also said that Pakistan wants to play a role in making Afghanistan a peaceful country.

Fatemi left for the US on Sunday to meet the administration of the upcoming US President Donald Trump.

His 10-day trip to the United States also includes meetings with the US senior officials.
