Sources said that an explosion rocked a house in the garrison city of Rawalpindi due to which three children and their father were killed while four others were severely injured in the incident.
Rescue teams arrived at the scene and shifted the wounded to Holy Family Hospital for treatment whereas the bodies of the children were taken to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for post-mortem.
The father succumbed to his injuries in the hospital whereas the condition of the mother is said to be critical.
The law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation of the explosion.
The citizens of Punjab use cylinders due to low pressure and gas loadshedding in the winter season. Fourteen people have been killed in gas related incidents this year so far.
