In case you’re wondering what two chocolate heroes such as Hamza Ali Abbasi and more importantly Fawad Khan have to do with Maula Jatt, here’s the big news for you. Both superstars have been roped in for Bilal Lashari’s Maula Jatt film, with heartthrob Fawad Khan essaying Maula Jatt and Hamza Ali Abbasi playing Noori Nath!
Yep, Bilal Lashari himself confirmed the news and said that the main idea was to shed the image of the typical, quintessential image of a Punjabi macho hero.
“Noori is a really important character. In fact, in the original film, Mustafa Qureshi sahab, who played Noori, struck a stronger connection with the audience and it was also the first time people fell in love with a villain,” he said.
Bilal Lashari also said that Hamza Ali Abbasi will not prove to be a problem for the project, owing to his rebellious personality on Facebook. In fact, he thought his personality would gel well with Noori Nath’s character and would add to that effect.
“I think he will make an even better villain on screen than he is on Facebook. “I think he will bring that (his facebook persona) to the table itself but the character and dialogues themselves are so powerful that I think he is going to nail it. People will forget the old Noori Nath,” said Lashari.
Bilal Lashari also said that the aim was not to attempt a remake of the old Maula Jatt that starred Maula Jatt and Mustafa Qureshi. According to Bilal, it would be a gamble.
“It’s a gamble but it’s not a remake. “It’s a new interpretation of the gandasa genre, which is why it was very important to reinvent characters. There’s no point in imitating Sultan Rahi. There has to be a completely new identity.”
Well, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Fawad Khan will have to do a lot to make sure that they are up for the job of Maula Jatt and Noori Nath. However, if anyone can do it, it’s these two!
