Fazl vows to defend madaris

LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUIF) chief, Maulana Fazlur Rahman on Thursday said that the government wasted the instance of a national consensus, while the secular lobby is conspiring to defame Islam, ARY News reported.

Addressing a seminar at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, Maulana Fazlur Rahman vowed that religious forces in the country will not let anyone take a step against madaris [seminaries].

He lamented that ‘agencies’ are conducting raids on seminaries and inquiring about personal data of the teachers and students.

He said that the JUIF represents all the schools of thought in the Parliament; it is not limited to a single one.

Meanwhile, Maulana Sami ul Haq, Liaquat Baloch, Sajzada Abul Khair Zubair, Allama Ramzan Tauqeer, Sajzada Shah Awais Noorani and others also addressed the seminar.

They stressed on the need of unity among Muslims and to struggle jointly against the issues faced by them.
